The boot was a good size, with a two level floor. No figures were given regarding litre capacity, but it appeared bigger than say Kia Niro Electric.
The dashboard design is well laid out, with a quality fit and finish throughout. Clearly this is a car which has been benchmarked against the iD3, but I'd objectively say that this feels more premium.
I have been told by an MG UK engineer that the CCS charging speed on the 51kWh variant is around 90-100kW, and on the 64kWh version it is 120-130kW peak.
The quality of the finish was very impressive. This was in Trophy specification, in the new Camden Grey paint colour, with a 64kWh battery. Interior space has been maximised by using a long wheelbase (the MG4 wheelbase is only 15mm shorter than the MG HS). This gives shorter overhangs, with more passenger space compared to traditionally proportioned cars.
Price from £20,000 (est) Sharp electric hatch has a range of up to 281 miles, and a rapid 443bhp version is on the way
WHEN OLEKSANDR USYK defeated then current heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua last year, it rather shook up the boxing scene. And now, title outsider, MG hopes to do similar in the small electric car class, with its new MG 4 hatchback. A rival to the likes of the Cupra Born and Volkswagen ID 3, the MG 4 pairs a single 167bhp electric motor with a 51kWh battery, to provide an official range of 218 miles in entry-level form.
A more powerful, 201bhp motor with a 64kWh battery will also be offered, and this will give an official range of up to 281 miles farther than the Nissan Leaf and most versions of the Born can take you.
A performance version of the MG 4 will also be available in the future. It'll share the 64kWh battery of the regular version, but dual electric motors will give the car four wheel drive and provide 443bhp in total. As a result, the hottest MG 4 is claimed to sprint from 0-62mph in just 3.8sec, making it quicker than the most powerful versions of the Born and ID 3.
The 51kWh model has a maximum charging rate of 100KW, while the 64kWh versions can charge at a higher rate of 125kW. At this rate, a 10-80% charge should take around half an hour if you can find a suitably powerful public charging point.
The MG 4 uses all-new underpinnings. Thanks to the way the battery is accommodated within the car's body. impressive interior space is promised, along with agile handling
The MG 4 is more individually styled than previous MG models, so it should stand apart from rivals that include the Hyundai Kona Electric and Peugeot e-208. Inside, the MG 4 gets a sleek central infotainment touchscreen that rests atop the dashboard, along with a digital instrument panel behind the steering wheel. Like its siblings, the MG 4 is likely to offer the usual amenities, such as a DAB radio, Bluetooth and sat-nav, as well as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring.
While prices haven't yet been announced, the MG 4 is expected to start at around £20,000. That's a fair bit cheaper than the Born, e-208 and ID 3.
Intressant med priserna.
SE (51kWh battery och mindre utrustning) £25,995.00
Throphy Long range (64kWh och verkar fullutrustad) £31,495.00
