VW software chief envisions pay-as-you-go autonomy.
The automaker is working to build an operating system that is capable of frequent over-the-air updates to enable enhancements such as full autonomous driving for a set distance as a way of getting ahead of Tesla.

“There is a new business model already out there -- a subscription model, or function-on-demand -- where you can drive autonomously if you want, for the next 50 miles. We would support that, “ Cariad CEO Dirk Hilgenberg told Bloomberg in an interview.

Vilket är mycket konstigt med tanke på att MEB bilarna är ganska gamla nu.

BMW has slowly been putting features behind subscriptions since 2020, and heated seats subs are now available in BMW’s digital stores in countries including the UK, Germany, New Zealand, and South Africa. It doesn’t, however, seem to be an option in the US — yet.
