Can someone who is insuring a Tesla model S p85d privately give me a ballpark estimate of insurance costs.
my insurance company wont give a quote without a number plate and of course I don't get a number plate till I have one delivered,-
figure is required for the financial controller in the family to release funds so ballpark is good enough

Just let your wif^H^H^H "financial controller" testdrive one and insurance costs will be a secondary problem.

I use the insurance through Tesla, and it costs me about 6500SEK / year.

Use EOD448 (my P85D) towards your insurance company to get a proper quote.

Note that all other than protector will be very expensive and that protector has a rather high deduction (självrisk) for any claims.

so Protector is Tesla insurance agent ?
I was looking at If as i have been insuring with them for a while now and the intention/thinking was to finance the car privately
rather than through Tesla as we are not in the position to lease.

Often others quoute very high rates, but I can be worth calling around. I got Aktsam at 4500 SEK/year, with lower excess than Tesla/Protector at 6500 SEK/year. The Protector offer is valid for everyone (at least I believe so), so you will not have to pay more than that.
The Protector offer is handled by Söderberg & Partners, but I'm sure Tesla will tell you the details, as it is their insurance partner in Sweden.

The so-called "vagnskadegarantin" is included the first three years in the price of the Tesla when you buy it from Tesla.
The Insurance you need to pay for by yourself costs SEK 5400 year one and SEK 6500 year two and three. (If you take it through Tesla branded Insurance)

Is yours Private or leasing? Big difference according to the insurance companies where a company leased car is getting far lower premium.

That's for a privately owned car.

Privately owned 70D in Helsingborg, about ~3800 SEK with Länsförsäkringar (www.lansforsakringar.se).
Might be more expensive with a P85D and in larger cities, but I would still suggest to atleast request a price..
