HELP WANTED! Tesla Repair Nightmare

Yo everyone, forum newbie here looking for a bit of advice or to see if anyone else has run into this kind of headache with repair routing.

A couple days ago, I had a small parking lot mishap with my Model S, just a light impact on the front right bumper, right above the fog light. Looking at it, it really didn't look like much at all. But right after it happened, the car disabled the parking sensors, and worse, the AC completely stopped working. With winter here and young kids in the back, losing climate control and defrost is a real problem.

I filed a claim with Trygg-Hansa and tried setting up a service request in the Tesla app. The app automatically pushed me toward third-party Tesla-approved body shops. So I started calling around to get things scheduled, but the body shops told me they only handle bodywork and paint, and that any electronic or AC/HVAC repairs have to go through a Tesla Service Center.

I called Tesla customer support next, and they told me to split it into two separate requests in the app: one for the collision bodywork and one for the AC and sensors. I did that and was relieved to get an AC service appointment booked for next week at Tesla segeltorp. But then a day later, Tesla called me back and threw a curveball. They said because the AC failure happened right after the bump, it’s considered part of the collision damage, meaning the body shop has to handle the entire thing from start to finish.

So now I’m completely stuck in the middle. The body shop insists Tesla needs to diagnose and fix the climate system and electronics, while Tesla insists the body shop takes full responsibility because of the impact. I will now try Tesla body shop at Huddinge, hope it will help...

Anyone had similar case before, and how you guys handled it? Thanks!

The condensors (for the ac) are mounted in front of wheels are probably leaking due to incident. Expensive.

Try to fix ac first (charging will not work) and then body repair. Risk standing with empty battery.

Thanks for sharing! I dont observe any leakage, checked it after the impact. And charging is normal, the car is drivable, just no AC...

Where did you get your AC fixed? Does tesla fix it without body repair?

I see, I only charge at home with low amp. Where and how did you get your AC fixed? from Tesla or 3rd party.. Thanks!

Is Trygg-Hansa covering the repairs? If so, it should be their responsibility to figure out where everything needs to be repaired.

Yes, i have full insurance with them, they will cover the cost. Now I am at the step to pick authorized workshop, where body shops are listed. But when I called them, they tend to not fix electronics/mechanical problem like AC. I ended up calling Tesla support, thus the story. I am kinda stuck on where I should go ..

You can go to any repair shop (like mekonomen borrvindkvarn, Nyköping, talk to Mats) to check kondensors. They corode after some years.

Cost ~ 40’ if I remember correctly)

Cost of sensors for parking are ~ 30€ used. Any repair shop can fix this (body repair, see my rear bumper thread!)

Rule one: go to Tesla when you have no alternative!
Rule two: use rangers when possible
Rule three: dont hit anything with car
