Hello Experts,
I need your advice before I sell my Model 3 LR.
I love my Model 3 and am happy with the overall performance but unfortunately, I am planning to sell my Model 3 LR (2019) because of these 3 main reasons:
I Cannot charge at home as I live in an apartment. I need to rely on the public charger or work (based on availability). Sometimes a lot of time is wasted searching for an EV charger in busy places
High insurance cost (I am paying 1900 sek /month) as I have a new driving license and Insurance companies have very high insurance costs for Tesla. I will pay half or even less for a fuel car.
Getting a good price for selling my Tesla now
Can you please suggest if keeping the EV will still be benifical considering the road tax, Servicing cost and rising fule prices If I swtich to fule car ? ...I am consfused
If your concerns are high costs a model3 perhaps isn’t the most optimal choice.
and If it was me I wouldn’t want to rely solely on public charging.
The cost for public charging will also be quite high, and even if fossilfuel costs would probably be higher it’s not that big a difference.
If you go for like a bmw 1 series I think road tax is 1500-2000sek once your over the bonus malus period (3years)
Insurance is really individual so your best bet is to chose a couple of cars your intrested in and call the insurance company to compare.

Where do live (approximately)?
I also live in an apartment (in Malmö), and there is no available solution provided by the town of Malmö for charging an electric car over night where I live. I've thought about what I would do if I was able to get the car you have. Within a 5 minute bike ride radius from my place there is an affluent area with a lot of rather large private houses. Some houses also have large gardens and plenty of space for parking. If I was able to get your car, then I would snail-mail and ask those people if there perhaps was someone who would agree to rent me a parking space where I would be able to charge my car over night. Perhaps this could be a possibility for you as well?
Perhaps there might be a housing cooperative (bostadsrättsförening) somewhere equally near where you live that has an available parking spot coming up where you could charge?
Have you contacted the town/municipality where you live about this problem? What did they say?

The possibility to charge at home is many times a key factor and selling poing when getting an electric car.
Unfortunetly this possibility is not available for people in rented apartments, I’m not sure if there are any demands for suppling chargingspace for EVS when constructing new rental apartments ?
If I’m not mistaken I think they even got the number of parking spaces changed to a minimum of 0,8 parking places/apartment for new construction.

Seems fairly easy to me to poll average demand for over night EV-charging in areas with apartment buildings. IMO it should absolutely be mandatory for every city/municipality to provide over night charging possibilities at reasonable cost for everyone that wants such an over night charging possibilities in said city/municipality (and doesn't own their own private house/property) – AKA Right To Charge!

I totally agree.
Unfortunetly i doubt that it’s mandatory today however it could/should be tomorrow.
Next challenge is apartment buildings without private parking, I think we should look at Norway that has found quite a few clever solutions for these challenges

I live in Solna and I don't have a fixed parking space. I park my car in boende parking space of solna stad which is very close to my apartment. There is a parkando garage 400 metres from my apartment which has several charging station but it costs 1800 per month. I have found Virta(Charge global) charging station near by but most of the time it's busy as there are many EV users in Solna. I save some money driving an EV but I feel I am wasting lot of time finding a charging station and also paying high insurance cost which makes it bit expensive to maintain My Tesla.
Solna says they are going to install chargers but it will take 2-3 years....

Check Chargefinder (alot of free chargers Still in Stockholm).
In Sollentuna Centrum you can park 2hours for free and Charge for free 11kw (depending on your drivning patern a trip once a week to do the groceries and Charge could save you some cash).
Otherwise there are loads of 11kw chargers in Mall of Scandinavia (3sek/kwh).
